A Winter Day at the London Eye – In the Sky and Above the Clouds of London

email

It’s cold… It’s windy… It’s winter and you find yourself in London!

Nice one… Have fun!

That’s the situation I found myself in.

Luckily I’ve talked to my friend Laura who recommended me to visit the London Eye. Usually I wouldn’t pay for a 30 minute ride on a big wheel around € 30,-. If you ask me, that price is ridiculous… Still, people do it and not just a few. So I thought I should give it a try as well and see if it’s worth it.

Entering the Londeon Eye

It was stormy and getting dark and I think the conditions were close to perfect. On the way up you get an very nice view of Waterloo Railway Station.

With the right angle, it looks like you are above the clouds.

From the top and going down again, you’ll be able to make some nice shots of the Westminster Palace. It’s one of the top sights of London.

Now, after around 30 minutes you should be standing on the ground again. What else could you do? There is a nice 4D show, which is included in the price of the ride… at least. We saw it afterwards, as we didn’t want to miss the sunset. I really liked the show and I’m sure you will do as well. It’s a 3D film and it gives the little extra, like some real fog and a few water splashes, which makes it an even better experience.

In winter time, you are also able to do a few minutes of ice skating in a wonderful scenery, especially in the evening. 45 minutes cost around € 15,- per adult.

By now you might be hungry and are heading towards a nice place to eat a yummy meal. Before doing that, get towards the river Thames again and take a last shot of the Westminster Palace at night.

Is it worth getting on the London Eye? Definitely!

Is it worth paying that much? That’s up to you! ;-)

Great blog post. I visited the London Eye last summer when I was on a summer school with Thames Valley Summer Schools (www.thamesvalleysummer.com) and it was incredible, and your photos bring back great memories – thank you!!
