Imagine if you could look around any streets or attractions in the UK, explore every nook and cranny, poke your head around each corner and whiz up and down the country in a second? Wouldn’t that be amazing…? Hold on, you can…
Believe of not, this is NOT a photo, it’s Google Street View! And what’s more, if you’re using Street View, you can carry on down the road, go around the corner or even turn back and go in the other direction.
Street View lets you see and navigate 360 degree street-level imagery of over 90% of the UK. You can visit attractions, discover new places, plan your route or even take a virtual walking tour – all at the click of a button!
Vote for your favourite street!
In celebration of Britain’s best-loved streets, Google is asking the world to vote for your favourite UK street in the annual Google Street View Awards . Don’t worry if you haven’t visited them, simply take a Street View tour of the streets nominated and decide! To see all the streets nominated and vote for your favourite, go to vote for Britain’s best street.
These are just a few of the streets in the running:
The Street, Castle Combe, Wiltshire - The beautiful village has a population of just 350!
Royal Mile, Edinburgh - the thoroughfare of Edinburgh Old Town.
New Quay Road, Whitby – this ancient town is the birthplace of Bram Stoker’s Dracula!
And for an up close, 360-degree view of anywhere in the UK, simply visit Google Street View!.
* voting for Google Street View Awards closes on Sunday 22nd May. The winning streets will be awarded the Google Street View Award trophy when they are announced in June.

Very cool – I really like the site Mapcrunch: http://mapcrunch.com – you can set it to UK only and then randomly go to anywhere in Britain on Streetview. It’s a lot of fun!
Very neat! I get to go to UK next month, hopefully I’ll hit one or two of these roads!
